About the artist

I photograph the city I call home.

I’m Eric Petersen, a Chicago-based fine art photographer specializing in architectural cityscapes and urban energy. My work focuses on the interplay of light, weather, and structure to create images that define a space.

I’ve partnered with Virgil Catherine, Jackson Junge, and Lizzie Selle, and my work is held in private collections across the city.

“Love this photo on its own, but it’s also so nicely matted and framed. It works perfectly in my home office.”

Commission questions

The practical details.

What kinds of projects do you take on?

Original Chicago artwork for corporate offices, hotels, restaurants, private homes, interior designers, and collectors.

What does a commission include?

Every project starts with a consultation. Depending on the project, I handle location scouting, photography, production, framing, delivery, and local installation coordination.

How long does a commission take?

Most commissions take three to six weeks. Timing can vary with weather, the photography schedule, production, framing, and installation needs.

How much does a commission cost?

Custom commissions include a creative fee plus production costs. Licensed commercial projects generally start at $2,500.

Do you work with designers and art consultants?

Yes. I work directly with interior designers, art consultants, architects, and corporate teams to align the artwork with the space, palette, dimensions, and schedule.

Can I order a print without commissioning a new photograph?

Yes. Anything you see on my Instagram is available as a print. Send me the post you love, and I’ll help you choose a size, format, and frame.
